Roxane’s Success Story:  A Reminder That Every Step Matters - Especially The First.

Nine years into her health journey, a routine check-up raised a new flag: cholesterol. Although her physician wasn’t recommending cholesterol medication just yet. She was told to keep an eye on both her LDL cholesterol and saturated fat intake in the meantime. But Roxane didn’t want to wait for those numbers to catch up to her.  

“I didn’t want to rely on medication,” Roxane said. “So I started looking for something natural.” That search is what led her to Step One Foods

“I came across it online, and it said it’s all natural!” 

She decided to start slow - not to chase cholesterol changes, but to add something healthy to her day. 

“It wasn’t because I was doing it to see my cholesterol drop,” she said. “It was more so, if this is good for me, I’m going to try it. It’s natural.”

Because Roxane was “a little hesitant to start,” she began with one serving a day to see how her body adjusted to Step One Foods. 

“I did not use the products twice a day, just to see how my body would react or if I would get any side effects, which I didn’t, so I was happy!”  

Roxane chose two Step One staples to start: The Anytime Sprinkle and The Peanut & Almond Nut  Butter. 

“I really like the Peanut & Almond Nut Butter with banana, sometimes on a sandwich for lunch, along with the Anytime Sprinkles on my salads, cereal or oatmeal. The best thing about the Sprinkles is you can have it as a snack, alone, or with just about anything else” she said. 

“Again, I was not consistent,” she shared - because the goal wasn’t cholesterol at first: it was choosing healthy food that fit her lifestyle. 

When new labs came in, she was curious to see if and what had changed. Even with a one-serving-a-day of her Step One ‘test run’, Roxane saw movement. Her lab results showed an 11 point drop in her total cholesterol. Proof that even small, consistent changes can make a difference.

At her next visit, she told her clinician exactly what she’d been doing: one daily serving of Step One Foods and no other changes to her routine.

When told her numbers “didn’t really drop,” Roxane pushed back: “It did,” she said, pointing to the reductions in total cholesterol, HDL, and triglycerides - “and I was only doing it once a day.”

That proof has her ready for the next chapter.

 “Another reason why I wanted to share is that even though I wasn’t consistent with the two servings, the numbers did drop,” she said. 

With one serving a day, Roxane was still fitting in 5 grams of whole food fiber, 1 gram of omega-3 fatty acids, and 1 gram of plant sterols. Although we do recommend consuming two doses per day in order to see LDL lowering results, with just one serving, she was receiving essential nutrients to support heart health.

Her plan now is to commit to two servings a day and see where her numbers land at her next annual test.

Along the way, she’s been candid with friends who are weighing their own options.

“I’ve been sharing this with others who are also having some cholesterol issues,” she said. “If people have to get on medicine, it is what it is, but if you can find a natural way to do it, why not try?”

Roxane also understands that making a change means making an investment, but she sees it differently. For her, Step One isn’t an added expense; it’s part of how she supports her health.

“I think what throws people off sometimes is the cost,” she said. “But I tell them, it’s really no different than buying regular food - and for what it does, it’s worth it.”

Her advice for anyone worried they won’t be perfect from day one? 

“If you want to see results, you have to stay disciplined, and it’s rewarding at the end.”

What’s next: Encouraged by what she’s seen so far, Roxane is ready to take the next step — committing to two servings a day a follow-up lab to see how far real food can take her.
