Angie’s Step One Success Story

Angie’s Step One Success Story

Angie spent over a decade living in the prediabetic zone. With a strong family history of women developing type 2 diabetes by age 40, she often wondered, “Am I just going to let this happen to me?”

As her cholesterol and blood pressure began to climb, the question became more urgent. But Angie had no interest in medications if she could avoid them.

“I’m not one to take medication if I don’t have to,” she explained. “I’d rather do things naturally.”

With statins off the table, her doctor recommended seeing a dietitian to improve her cholesterol, blood sugar, and blood pressure through food. Angie had already tried the keto diet, but suspected it had worsened her cholesterol. So she followed her dietitian’s advice of cutting out foods, revamping meals, but months later, her lab results got worse.

“I thought, ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! I literally wanted to cry,” she said. At her next physical, her doctor referred her to a cardiologist and brought up statins again.

That’s when Angie remembered Step One Foods. She’d seen the ads on Facebook, read the testimonials, but brushed them off. “I figured it was too good to be true. Probably just another internet scam,” she laughed. “We’ve all bought things online that promise to make us look 20 years younger, and they don’t work.”

But faced with a potential statin prescription, Angie decided to give Step One a try.

When she began, her total cholesterol was 273 and her LDL (the bad kind) was 170. Nine months later, after consistently incorporating Step One Foods into her daily routine, her total cholesterol dropped to 172 and her LDL plummeted to 94.

Her doctor was thrilled. “Everything looked good,” Angie said. “It was very exciting.”

And the good news didn’t stop there.

Her A1C, which had hovered around 6.2%, fell to 5.7%—a major victory considering her family history. Her insulin resistance score, which is typically diagnosed using blood tests like fasting insulin and glucose levels, HOMA-IR calculation, or through an oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT), dropped from 71 to 31.

“I can’t even tell you what that meant to me,” Angie said. “It felt like a huge win.”

When it comes to sticking with Step One, Angie says it’s been effortless. “I don’t think it could’ve been any easier,” she said. “That’s just one more reason why it’s so easy to stay on track.”

Now at almost 62, Angie wants others her age to know: It’s not too late.

“So many of my friends think it’s too late to make a change at our age, that it won’t make a difference. But it can…and it does. These products really do work, even for us older folks.”

Her go-to products? The Blueberry Cinnamon Oatmeal, Oats & Walnut Pancake Mix, and Peanut Butter Bar. She loves adding fresh blueberries and walnuts to her breakfast and occasionally sneaks a packet of Anytime Sprinkle straight from the pouch as a late-night treat.

We asked Angie what she’d say to someone thinking about trying Step One Foods.

“Do it,” she said without hesitation. “People talk about the expense, but let’s be honest…you have to eat breakfast. People spend $7 a day at Starbucks, and that’s not doing anything good for you,” she laughed.

Angie is now looking forward to her next doctor’s appointment in May to track her continued progress. Until then, she’s staying busy with her 12 grandkids and her new favorite hobby: pickleball.
