Frozen Yogurt Breakfast Bars
6 packages of Anytime Sprinkle
½ cup date paste
1 cup almond butter
1 teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice
2 cups of greek yogurt
1 cup of stewed berries
In a food processor, blend together Anytime Sprinkle, date paste, almond butter and pumpkin pie spice until well combined. Adjust almond butter and date paste as desired.
Transfer the mix to a parchment-lined 8x8 baking dish and press firmly into the base of the dish.
Dot the yogurt with the stewed berries and use a butter knife to swirl.
Place into the freezer and let freeze for 1 to 2 hours, or until the bars are solid enough to cut.
When removed from the freezer, cut into squares or bars of the desired size.
Let thaw for 3 - 5 minutes before enjoying.
Yields about 6 servings.
A note from Dr. Klodas: Full of healthy ingredients in addition to Anytime Sprinkle! And tastes great! But if your goal is weight loss, this is not a low calorie treat. However, it will keep you feeling full and is certainly a better choice than most dessert options.
2 packages of Anytime Sprinkle
½ cup of flour
¼ cup water
1 tablespoon of olive oil
In a medium bowl, mix all ingredients together. Spray the baking sheet with oil and transfer ingredients to the sheet. Press/roll until ⅛ inches thick.
Sprinkle with sea salt, cracked black pepper and flaxseed.
Bake at 450 degrees for 12 minutes - watching closely so that they don’t burn.
Remove from the oven and cut into desired sizes.
A note from Dr. Klodas: I love this recipe because it helps turn Sprinkle into a savory item. You can make it even healthier by using a whole wheat flour - or even experimenting with ground ancient grains. Amaranth anyone?
Sprinkle Griddle Cake
1 package of Anytime Sprinkles
1 mashed banana
1 tsp vanilla
Dash of cinnamon
¼ tsp baking powder
Frozen or fresh blueberries
Combine the eggs and the banana into a medium bowl and whip.
Add the remaining ingredients and continue to whip until well combined.
Heat skillet or griddle to 400 degrees and spray with light cooking spray.
Pour all contents into the skillet/griddle and cook until golden brown, then flip.
Enjoy with a drizzle of syrup, honey or fresh fruit.
A note from Dr. Klodas: Lots of protein and fruit turn Anytime Sprinkle into a truly hearty breakfast. Try substituting in an egg white for one of the eggs to lower saturated fat intake.
